Mr. Smith practices health law and business law. He is Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Representative Clients: Mr. Smith’s clients include physicians, physician group practices, health care provider networks, hospitals, medical residency programs, mental health and mental retardation centers, and other types of health care providers and joint ventures that include diagnostic imaging centers, dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgical centers and clinical laboratories.

Practice Areas: Mr. Smith routinely advises clients in many types of health law and business law matters, including: federal and state health law regulatory matters; the formation and administration of joint ventures between and among physicians, hospitals, and other types of health care providers; the sale, merger and acquisition of health care businesses, including medical practices; Medicare and Medicaid program compliance, including compliance with the federal “Stark” and “anti-kickback” laws; physician employment matters, including non-compete issues; patient related issues, including privacy rights and termination of the physician-patient relationship; corporate, partnership, company, and association formation and governance matters; and equipment acquisition and lease financing.
